More than 20 years ago, Young Life answered God’s call to run headfirst into the chaos of teenage motherhood with the hope of Jesus ... and YoungLives was born.
YoungLives has never wavered from the original vision to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. Through Young Life’s time-tested methods and life-on-life mentoring, teen moms are empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals, and live a future rooted in Christ.
In North Dallas we are currently serving the teen moms at Thomas Jefferson High School and WT White High School. YoungLives has the privilege of walking beside teen moms after they have chosen life for their child.
We are currently looking for people to join our ministry in the following ways:
YoungLives leader - 2 hour a week commitment met by attending club once a month, attending campaigners once a month, and spending time with your assigned teen mom two other times a month. Leaders will also attend mandatory leadership meetings twice a semester
Children's Program - While the girls attend club once a month, we put the children in a separated program in order for the moms to focus on the fun and the message of the evening. We love consistent volunteers in our children's program in order to relationships to form between volunteers and the children.
Meals - We begin each club with a shared meal. Meals are provided by different churches, bible studies, and groups of friends. Dinner gives our leaders time to sit and talk with the girls and their children.
Committee - Our committee is a group of women who believe in the mission of YoungLives (To introduce teen moms to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith) and use their gifts in order to strengthen the ministry. Committee members will help plan our annual fundraiser and champion YoungLives in the community by sharing the vision with others. They fulfill various roles like donor care, coordinating the children's program, scheduling meal providers, praying for the ministry, and caring for our volunteer leaders.
Ali Smith- Younglives Coordinator
Ali first became involved in Young Life during her time at The University of Texas at Austin. God used this ministry to make her passionate about making her days on earth count by sharing Jesus with those around her. She loves seeing people come alive as they see the Gospel transform individuals. She served on Young Life staff in Sugar Land, TX for four years and met her husband, JR, through Young Life. After having her daughter, Emerson, in April 2015, Ali decided to return to Young Life staff to lead YoungLives. Ali and JR recently welcomed their first son, Holden, to their family.
